Discover One Wish Photography

My journey

Welcome and thanks for stopping by to discover One Wish Photography!  My love of photography started in high school, but it was only after college that I could work on gaining knowledge and experience. I started with Landscape and Wildlife photography, and while I still love those and work to incorporate them into my images, I have fallen in love with Portraiture. It makes me especially happy to photograph infants and children; their joy and laughter are magical.

My journey to motherhood has also shaped my photography in a myriad of ways, but one way in particular:  it was my love of photographing my children that brought me to switching to portraiture photography.  A few years ago, a friend gave me a little silver box on a pink leather wristband. It was a wish box. I carefully wrote out my wish, to have a child of my own, and put it inside. Several different obstacles meant that we needed to use donor egg In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The first couple rounds of IVF were unsuccessful, but in August of 2013, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter.

My husband and I decided we wanted a second child…a sibling for our daughter.  Several more rounds of IVF and a devastating loss followed. Despite being heartbroken, we picked ourselves up and tried again.  We had a single embryo left; it was our last hope.   In January of 2016, I gave birth to my amazing son.  Our third child, my sweet and adorable daughter, came to us through adoption – hers is a story of its own.

This journey has been a roller coaster of emotions, of medicines, and more shots than I care to count.  I know the joy of having a family and how hard it can sometimes be to get there.  I have three amazing, wonderful children.  The road to my wonderful family began with one wish…and that is why I chose to name my business One Wish Photography.

My experiences with IVF and adoption help me to understand and be able to work with many varieties of family dynamics.  Every family is different, and that's great!  I can capture the love and joy in your family.  Using humor and a lot of goofiness, I can get kids to feel comfortable working with me.  As a mother and as a trained photographer, I know how to handle babies safely, gently and expertly.  I have loved taking images of my family's journey.  I would love to capture your family's journey and for you to discover One Wish Photography in return.
